This is the magazine Kerrang, advertising the new band 'Bring Me the Horizon'. The whole theme of the magazine is rock or rock alternative music genre, and this is reflected in the way that the magazine phrases things and gets information across to its audience. The quotation "This is insane!" is a fairly young way of speaking and has an exciting edge that is often associated with the rock genre. There is also the use of font and positioning, the band's name plastered across the whole width of the magazine in a very 'in your face' manner and eye-catching to bring your attention in to the band name and then to their picture. The use of red white and blue also signifies the fact this band is becoming big in America, with stripes and stars also featured.
Here is an advert that would be found in a magazine such as Kerrang. The advert shows the lead singer of the band Green Day and then goes on to list the new music that is going to be included on the digipack. The digipack will have a similar design to the magazine advert - using the same font and a similar or the same picture. The colours will reflect the genre too - as this is rock there are darker colours with a contrasting red and white, something typical in this genre.
Looking at these real magazine advertisements will help when it comes to creating our own - it will give us a basis to work with and we will be able to look at existing adverts that work well and attempt to mimic their techniques in our own work.
