Florence + The Machine - No Light No Light
Narrative: The narrative is slightly surreal, but there is a theme of running, be it actual running or the more morbid sense when the artist jumps from the building. There is also the theme of love, or the loss of love in another person.
Setting: The setting varies from tall buildings, back alley roads and a church choir.
Number of shots: 11
Transitions used: There are not many transitions such as fade or wipes seen in other music videos, it mainly consists of sharp cuts.
Representations seen: Women are the main representation here, always seen running or falling, in one scene being held up by men. This gives them a weak image, either in danger or in need of support from men.
Jake Bugg - Two Fingers
Narrative: Having parents who argue lots while a young member of the family tries to get on with his life and take part in his passion that is performing music.
Setting: Council estates.
Number of shots: 14
Transitions used: As with No Light No Light, this video contains cuts rather than wipe or fade transitions.
Representations seen: Here, class is mainly represented. The aggression displayed by the adults in the piece has very negative connotations, and suggests everyone who lives on such an estate has problems with their parents. There is also a slight representation of women in a negative light again, with there only being one present and in what looked to be an abusive or overly bad relationship, suggesting again that women are weak.
Led Zeppelin - Travelling Riverside Blues
Narrative: Working/Labour, various methods of transport and destinations. Wishing you could travel home instead of working.
Setting: All over America, mainly in an outdoor environment with the odd inside studio locations for the live performance aspect of the video.
Number of shots: 9
Transitions used: Mainly wipe, then just cuts.
Representations seen: There seems to be a lack of representation in the video, but there seemed to be a majority appearance of males instead of females.
