Current Music Video Affairs

Music videos at the moment are under scrutiny to include an age certificate after the releases of Miley Cyrus' 'Wrecking Ball' and Rihanna's 'Pour it Up'. Collectively the videos have gained over 370,000,000 views on YouTube and the general public have been in uproar at the explicit themes of both the videos.

The video's have drawn lots of public attention at the lack of clothing on each artist. The possibility that minors may view the material and become distressed has been discussed on almost a global scale, being mentioned on various chat shows and news channels. 

However, this 'shock factor' has brought in thousands upon thousands of video views for the two artists and therefore created a larger audience and a larger profit for those who then go on to purchase the song. 

Creating our music video, we need to be aware of what other artists are doing and how the public react to certain features. Doing a video like these would not be in our best interests as it clearly upsets the public even though it brings in a high number of views.
