Our band have used one magazine advertisement in the past, featuring the name of the band, the name of the EP and with links to various social networking sites. The design of the advertisement is very simplistic, with just the band on a black and white merged background. As they are a relatively unknown acoustic pop band they need to get their image out to the general public, therefore using the actual band members in the advert raise awareness and familiarity with the band.
The title font works nicely with the genre and the sketchy look keeps the tone of the band's music. The word 'Blue' is also highlighted by being in the colour blue. However, the font does change after the title, something that is not always considered professional and something we should consider when creating our own magazine advert.
The black and white minimal design works well for the band starting out, but there is not much skill required to create this kind of advert. It would be better for our magazine advert to be a bit more complex while keeping in with the simplistic design.
This analysis will help when it comes to designing our own digipack and advert because we already have a real media text to draw creative ideas from - we also know what has already been done and what we should then avoid to stop becoming repetitive. We will be able to create something different that still caters to our audience.
