Two Magazine Analysis

The first magazine advertisement is Florence + the Machine. The digi-pack of this magazine advert will be designed in a similar fashion with the dark green colours and the artist at the centre of the product. There is a clear relation between the title and the image artwork, the lungs clearly on display atop of the artist. This will also mean there is a high probability the single of the album will be called Lungs. This artist is in the alternative indie rock genre and this is reflected through the colours used in the advert. The dark colours are typical of a rock genre and then the pastel mix of colours and flowers are quite stereotypical of an alternative genre. The artist of the music is on the centre of the magazine which should attract an audience who are already familiar with the artist and also place a face with the name for people who do not already know Florence + the Machine. At the bottom of the advert there is details for the band, a release date and extra information about the CD about to be released.

The second magazine advert is for The Killers. This advert is more simplistic than the previous ad, the genre differing by being a rock pop band. The artist is not present in the advert, this suggests they are a popular band who do not need the artist to be recognized - people will already know the name. The design has reference to the name of the album with the sun in the sky. The mosaic style also has reference to an 'age'. The colours are not as typical for a rock band, the purples and oranges are more typical for a pop band, although the colours are not overpowering. There is also less information about the album in comparison, meaning that there is more of an audience already present for this band and they do not need to advertise as thoroughly as a less known band would.

These analysis of magazine adverts will help with the creating of our own advert, what we should be thinking about and who we should be aiming towards. We can draw ideas from these designs and see what works and what will not work.
