Two Digipack Analysis

In order to create our own digipack, the study and analysis of pre-existing digipacks is vital to our understanding of what to create.

The first digipack is for Robbie Williams 'Rudebox' and it features a very minimal design with only the artists face featured on the front. There is a lack of colour on the digipack, mainly black and white with only a hint of blue  The use of font is also considered, being suitable for the genre of pop. The target audience for this digipack is mostly older women who are already aware of who the artist is, therefore the best way to advertise is to place an image of the artist on the front of the pack.

This second digipack is designed for the band The Black Keys. This design is also simple in its entirety, with five sides variations of the same basic image. The background and the van have slight changes each time but there is little difference. There are no bright colours featured in the digipack and this conforms to the genre of indie rock, there isn't often lots of bright colours and it remains very dull. The target audience would be for young people between the ages of about 16-27 years old. The Black Keys are not very well known and so have to draw in an interest in some other way than just having the artists face all over the front of the pack. Instead they use various camper vans, something that might spark the interest of young people who have the desire to jump in a car and drive off on an adventure.

Analysing these digipacks will help when creating our own digipack as we can draw ideas and certain features from them to apply to our own. We will know what works well and what might not work as well by looking at pre-existing digipacks.
